What is CAFOD Club?

With CAFOD Club, our pupils can lead the way, putting their faith into action and support the Catholic life of the school.  It gives our children the chance to get together on a weekly basis to learn about the wider world, through games and mini projects and to take part in activities to reach people who urgently need our help.

Right now children are going hungry because crops have failed.  Families don't have clean, safe water to drink.  Children are missing school because they are sick because they have no vaccines.  Through CAFOD Club our children have the chance to change this, so that every person in our world will have the chance to flourish.

Who can attend CAFOD Club?

Children in Key Stage 2 can attend CAFOD Club each week.

When is CAFOD Club?

CAFOD Club takes place every Tuesday dinner time in the Library.

Our Ideas

CAFOD Club would like to explore the following ideas, through our work on Catholic Social Teaching:

  • Pray for this less fortunate than ourselves
  • Encourage other people to listen to CAFOD
  • Help others by giving them money for what they need
  • Learn more about the work of CAFOD
  • Donate items to the local foodbank
  • Donate toys to children that don't have any
  • Inform CAFOD about the things we are doing so support them
  • Donate clothes to those in need
  • Share God's love with others
  • Have regular non-uniform days to raise money for charity

What have we been doing?

Find a Penny Project

We are collecting the smallest amounts of money – just a penny that might be given back as change, left around the house or even lost on the floor – to show that even the smallest amounts can add up to a lot when we all work together.  At the end of the year, we are going to see jus what we can buy from the CAFOD World Gifts.

Working for Climate Change

As Stewards of the earth and knowing the importance of caring for our common home, we have been learning all about Climate Change and getting creative for climate justice! We have learnt how the changing climate is affecting our sisters and brothers around the world and having the biggest impact upon the poorest communities.  We are creating an artistic piece that hopefully will be selected to be shown in the Houses of Parliament!
